Last but not least: even though I'm gradually moving to computer-free live setup, let's be honest, everything breaks down once in a while. So my carry-on bags barely met the maximum barrier. It's a huuuuge pile of stuff and most of it is fragile and doesn't allow packing it with regular luggage. put aside all the cables and power adapters. For instance when I flew to festivals this summer I had 2 laptops (stage macbook and a second laptop for live visuals), a synth, a drum-machine, a sound-interface, a handful of controllers, a mixer, a mic, an in-ear system. First of all not every one can afford a spare computer (after all it's not all about computer, there's a whole bunch of other gear). If i wanted to perform live with a computer, i would take at least 1 spare.that's a valid point, but it's not always possible due to different reasons.
